On August 9, 1999, A King County Superior Court arbitrator found that Kamas Realty dba John L. Scott Real Estate violated the Washington State Consumer Protection Act. In the case of Nowell v. Kirby the Arbitrator found Intentional Misrepresentation by the John L. Scott office when they advertised proprerty purchased by Nowell as "in like new condition."
