JOHN L. SCOTT
AND
THE COURTS

Douglas Tingvall, Vice President and in house counsel for John L. Scott Real Estate, said of trial judge Jeffrey Ramsdell in a recent news article, “that was a function of Judge Ramsdell’s inexperience.” He was referring to the jury’s decision against John L. Scott in Svendsen v. John L. Scott. Judge Ramsdell has been a deputy King County prosecutor, Staff Counsel to the Seattle Division of the State Court of Appeals and Pro-tem Municipal Court Judge.

In the Edmonds v. John L. Scott Real Estate case, which John L. Scott lost all the way up to the Supreme Court, Douglas Tingvall had this to say about the Appeals Court judges: “I know that’s what the Court of Appeals said, but their mistaken about that.” Tingvall said, “the overworked court doesn’t take sufficient time in these cases to educate themselves about the laws and the facts.” (Seattle Post-Intelligencer, June 16, 1998). The Washington State Supreme Court denied John L. Scott’s request to review the Appeals Court decision.

King County Superior Court Judge Peter Jarvis awarded Cora Edmonds 100 per cent of her attorney’s fees and costs amounting to $153,859.00. It took Ms. Edmonds more than four years to pursue her claim that John L. Scott had illegally Kept her earnest money deposit of $5001.00.
